ROANOKE KICKBOXING CLASSES Teaches how to do a Round Kick
Some Information about the round kick at Kick30 Kickboxing Roanoke VA
Here at Kick30 Kickboxing Roanoke VA we call the round kick the baseball bat of the body. We call it that because the round kick can generate so much power when done correctly it can destroy its target. We’ve seen people in competition break their opponent’s arm with a round kick, and many times a well-placed round kick will knock a person out.
How to perform a rear leg round kick
To throw a rear leg round kick. You will want to start in the guard position with the kicking leg in the back. You will take your front foot and step toes out to the outside of your front hip turning your rear shoulder to the inside. Next, you will pick your rear knee up and bring it over like you’re swinging it over a fence. “The higher you bring your knee up the higher the round kick will go” Once the knee is through your center line of the target you will throw the kick striking with the shoe string side of shin. as the kick strikes the target the outside of the kicking leg should be facing the sky and the hip should be rolled over. After you strike your target if it’s a solid target. You will pull your foot back and sit it down beside the target. If you throw your kick and miss your target you will want to continue the spin and throw a spin back fist or reverse spinning elbow to practice stopping people from trying to rush in after the kick misses.
